Landscape architects GES LTD won the competition for a sculpture for the entrance of THE SWANSCOMBE HERITAGE PARK AND NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE with their design for a giant Swanscombe hand axe in stainless steel. The beautiful faceted sculpture was made by BOB HOGBEN of BH ENGINEERING, Kent.

We supplied and set in place the 14 tonne glaciated, weathered and pressure-washed Cornish granite boulder foundation plinth. Bob’s fitting of the stainless steel sculpture to ur weathered granite cortex is beautifully precise. The two contrasting materials work perfectly together.
